I. Beginner Bridge Classes!
Wednesdays, 4:30-6:30 pm through March 31, 2010
Great for anyone new to the game for those who would like a comprehensive review of the basics. This class takes you through the fundamentals of opening bids and responses for Notrump, Majors and Minors. We will also cover important play and defense techniques.
New students are welcome to join in! No partner required.
$30 per class, recommended textbook $12.
*A continuing series will be offered for those who would like to continue.
II. Special Topics, Conventions and
Supervised Play - Empower your game!
Wednesday nights, 7-9:30 pm
Note - no class March 17, 2010 as we are holding an ACBL-wide Charity Game that night - come and play!!!
Enjoy a fun, interactive class with a special topic lesson followed by supervised play and discussion of the hands. This is a great class for players who are comfortable with the basics of bridge who want to learn tips and strategies to improve their game.
Different topics are covered every week, including Stayman, Transfers, Blackwood & Gerber, Negative Doubles, and much more. These sessions will give you confidence to understand when and how to use different techniques to take your game to the next level. This is a great way to learn conventions and how to handle special bidding situations, and to practice in a relaxed setting!
Lesson is 45 minutes to an hour, followed by supervised play.
No partner required!
Ongoing Wednesdays nights from 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm
$20 per session.
Discount packages available - 5 for $90, 10 for $175, no expiration date. Optional textbook on Conventions $12.
III. Competitive Bidding Classes
Tuesday evenings 7:00 - 9:30 pm through March 23, 2010*
Learn the secrets of competitive bidding, when and how to overcall or double, preemptive bids, and constructive and obstructive bidding techniques to help you and your partner find the best contract.
We will cover preemptive opening bids, strong 2 Club openers,
overcalls and responses, and takeout doubles and responses.
New students are welcome to join in! No partner required.
$35 per class, recommended textbook $12.

Hi! Here's a little bit about me and my love of bridge...
I started playing bridge about 10 years ago when my parents encouraged me to learn, saying they thought I would really enjoy the game. They paid for my first bridge class, and the rest is history!
I had a blast and started reading every bridge book in sight.
I was amazed at both the simplicity and the complexities of the game, not to mention the wonderful opportunities for fun, friendship and travel that bridge offers.
It is truly a game for a lifetime of learning and enjoyment.
I am now thrilled to be sharing my love of bridge with others through teaching and directing.
I travel to many bridge tournaments, including most nationals, and frequently take seminars to update my teaching skills and directing credentials. I attend the
American Bridge Teachers Association convention every summer where I have the opportunity to learn from world class players and teachers such as Marty Bergen, Eddie Kantar, Bobby Wolfe, Audrey Grant and many more.
I volunteer as the Education Chair for the Northern Virginia Bridge Association, and serve on the
By-Laws Committee for the American Bridge Teachers Association.
In the real world, I am a CPA and Personal Financial Specialist. I have my own practice where I help clients with tax, financial planning and investment matters.
You can often find me enjoying the beautiful underwater world as a scuba diver. I have been diving for almost 30 years, and became certified as a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor a couple of years ago in St. Thomas, holding my own in a tough class with all of the cute 20 year old guys...
By the way - I am always looking for travel companions for fun trips!
My next adventure is running the bridge program on a cruise from Buenos Aires to Antarctica.
